Privacy and data use

What the site uses, in plain English.

This note describes the services visible in the current howtoireland site and purchase flow. Last updated: 13 July 2026.

Analytics

Optional Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity only load after you choose “Allow analytics.” They help show which guides are useful, how visitors move around the site and where the interface causes trouble. If allowed, these services may use cookies or similar identifiers and collect browser, device, approximate-location and interaction information.

Choosing “No thanks” does not limit the site, the free checklist or checkout. Use the “Privacy choices” control in the footer at any time to allow or switch off analytics. The site stores that choice in your browser so it does not ask on every page.

Read the Google privacy policy, Microsoft privacy statement and the Irish Data Protection Commission’s cookie guidance.

Purchases and guide delivery

Payments are handled by Stripe. howtoireland does not receive your full card number. Stripe sends purchase details needed to identify the route guide and delivery email. Resend is used to email the access link after a completed purchase. Read the Stripe privacy policy and Resend privacy policy.

Hosting and security logs

The site is hosted on Netlify. Like most hosting providers, Netlify processes technical request and security information needed to serve and protect the site. Read the Netlify privacy policy.

Support email

If you email support, the message, your email address and any purchase information you include are used to answer the request. Do not send card details, passwords or a full passport image.

Your questions

For a question about information you sent directly to howtoireland, email guides@contact.howtoireland.ie. Analytics and payment information held by the named providers is also governed by their own privacy processes.
